Z24 - National Debt Meter Conquers the Netherlands

Amsterdam, 18 September 2009 - The Z24 National Debt widget is in popular demand. Since its launch Friday a week ago more than 1.300 users have installed the meter on their site or profile page of their social network. And the number is growing!

The meter in the widget gives you an update per second of the increase of the Dutch National Debt.

"Creating the National Debt meter widget was a spontaneous idea of our editorial staff. It is based on the famous New York National Debt Clock" says Z24 chief editor Arend van den Berg. "The national debt instantly becomes very tangible, because it runs up by 550 euro's per second."

Beemway designed and developed this spontaneous idea by Z24 within a few hours into a slick widget. The widget, or mini application makes it possible to copy the meter to any given site, blog or social network via two simple clicks; from iGoogle to Hyves, from Facebook to blogs.

While you were reading this press release, the national debt increased by another 20.000 euro's.
